Kevin Comics

Hello, Knucklehead!

Hope you had a good holiday. Here's a special year-end newsletter collecting my top 9 favorite comics I made this year. Not my most-liked on social media, but rather the ones -I- like the most — plus some commentary. Enjoy!

#9 Rage Against The Machine

Rage Against The Machine
I don't think AI should be used to mimic the style of any living artist. But I also kiiiiinda wish I was popular enough for AI to recognize and mimic my style. Is that wrong?

#8 Work Friends

Batman in Therapy is quickly becoming my favorite format. Too bad I can't ever publish it or make money off of it. I'd love to pitch it as a graphic novel. Know anyone at DC?

#7 At A Loss

At a Loss
I got laid off from BuzzFeed this year. This comic is about that. It's also an homage to a legendary webcomics meme. Look up "Loss" if you don't know it.

#6 The Tetris Effect

The Tetris Effect
I always feel weird posting my dumb little comics when there's so much awful stuff happening in the world. This was the closest I came to making a statement about current events. The last panel is probably my favorite of the year.

#5 Enhance!

Enhance!
I'm really proud of this one. Not only the idea, but also my anime waifu drawing. Which was NOT generated by AI, thankyouverymuch.

#4 Just A Reminder

Just A Reminder
Medical office workers in the comments of this comic pointed out that, despite the constant reminders, folks still skip their appointments all the time. We need to find a better way.

#3 Batman's Biggest Fear

Full Disclosure
I made this one into a cartoon with the talented Rachel Kimsey as Catwoman and Poison Ivy. It blew up on Instagram and made folks have a nuanced discussion about male vulnerability in the comments. Mission accomplished.

#2 The Face of A REAL Man!

The Face of a Real Man
I also made this one into a cartoon. It also blew up on Instagram and made folks argue about sunscreen in the comments. Which was… not great.

#1 The Side-Hustle Shuffle

The Side-Hustle Shuffle
This was my most popular comic this year. And the one that came most directly from my soul. I feel constant pressure to turn my art into my primary source of income. And while part of me would love that, another part of me worries it'll kill my passion for it. If you have any suggestions on how to strike that balance, let me know. In the meantime, here's my Patreon. 😉

THAT'S IT!

Thanks again for joining me this year. I'm always grateful that you spend a little of your time with my dumb little comics. I have some fun ideas and announcements for you coming in the New Year. Until then, please take care and try to ignore your Grustle Monster.
